About Us

What does HOPE² mean?

HOPE² is pronounced "HOPE Squared". This stands for Heroic Homeschoolers Offering Opportunities to Purposefully Pursue and Enhance Education.

Who is HOPE²?

HOPE² is a faith based homeschool co-op serving the King George, Virginia and surrounding areas.

HOPE² is not a drop off co-op. We are more than an educational resource - we are a group of Christian brothers and sisters living in community together. "Let us hold tight without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near." Hebrews 10:23-25 We have an expectation that families who participate in HOPE² classes will also join together as members of the body of Christ and come together in fellowship with other members of our community.

What are the Governing Values of HOPE²?

Matthew 18: 6

“But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in Me to sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.”

Matthew 18: 15-17

“If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense.  If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back. But if you are unsuccessful, take one or two others with you and go back again, so that everything you say may be confirmed by two or three witnesses.  If the person still refuses to listen, take your case before the church.  Then if he or she won't accept the church’s decision, treat that person like a pagan or a corrupt tax collector.”

Matthew 22:37-39

“Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all our soul and with all your mind… And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”

1 Peter 4:8

“… continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.”

Hebrews 10:24, 25

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up on meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

What does HOPE² Believe?

Statement of Faith

  • We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • We believe Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, is God come in the flesh.  His death provides substitutionary atonement for our sins.  He literally rose bodily from the dead and will literally come to earth again.

  • We believe the Bible in its entirety (all 66 books of the Old and New Testament) is the infallible, inspired Word of God and will be the only scriptures used during co-op.

  • We believe in, and accept by faith, the Genesis account of creation.

  • We believe man is by nature sinful and is inherently in need of salvation, which is exclusively found by faith alone in Jesus Christ and His shed blood.

  • We believe that personal salvation comes to mankind by grace through faith. (Eph. 2:8-9)

  • We believe in a literal heaven and a literal hell.

  • We believe the Bible defines marriage as being between one man and one woman.

  • We believe that God created mankind in His own image as male and female; sex/gender is determined by God at conception as part of His wonderful and masterful design. The sexes are to be celebrated as unchangeable and complementary to each other with differing roles and responsibilities but equal in value.

What are the requirements to participate in HOPE²?

Yearly fees: Insurance, website/administrative, and facility appreciation/usage fee. These fees and all paperwork must be submitted to the treasurer before you will be eligible to register for classes.

Associated class fees vary by class. These fees will be divulged at the time of registration and will be paid directly to the teacher by the first day of class unless other arrangements have been made with the teacher.

  • Members must sign that they will abide by and not dispute our Governing Values. While non teachers are not required to sign the Statement of Faith they are required to abide by our Governing Values and to not dispute them or our Statement of Faith during participation with HOPE².

  • Members must follow all co-op policies and by-laws.

  • Members must fulfill a Service Duty Role– All member families are required to contribute either in a teaching or support capacity. If a family experiences any barrier to fulfilling a service duty they must work with the board for accommodations for their unique circumstance.

  • Teachers are required to sign our Statement of Faith. Please see our bylaws for more information about teacher requirements.

What classes does HOPE² offer?

This varies from year to year. Our co-op is volunteer led and volunteer run. While there is precedent for teachers being hired for things like band, these teachers must be able to sign our Statement of Faith and there must be enough families interested in paying the teacher's fees. Because of the limited number of teachers willing to teach the elementary level classes, priority is often made to high school classes needed to meet graduation requirements.

Each spring we meet to discuss what classes people are looking for and who is willing to teach what. In order for a class to be offered, there must be someone to teach it as well as a second adult to assist that teacher. High School students are permitted to teach elementary level classes as long as they can meet the same requirements as adult teachers and are able to find two adults to assist them.

When and where does HOPE² meet?

TBD for 2024-2025
